Certain news stories are guaranteed to appear in the Liberal mainstream media. One of those is the fiction that “…deficits have gone down during Obama’s tenure…”.

National Debt under Obama

Never mind that the national debt has increased from $10 trillion when George Bush left office to over $19.2 trillion right now — we are still subjected to this kind of blatant propaganda / Lies (emphasis added):

But Americans just don’t get his economic achievements, he [Obama] insisted to the New York Times Magazine last month.

“If you ask the average person on the streets, ‘Have deficits gone down or up under Obama?’ Probably 70% would say they’ve gone up,” Obama said “with some justifiable exasperation,” according to the magazine, because the deficit has declined during his presidency. <Los Angeles Times, link>

The deficit has declined? Obama wants credit for reducing the deficit?

I don’t see a year of decline in the above chart, do you?

Of course not, and Americans know this even in a general sense:

Polls show that a large majority of Americans believe the opposite to be true, setting up a challenge for the White House truth-squadding campaign.

Ha ha, “setting up a challenge for the White house….” What challenge is that, convincing people that Up is really Down?

Not only have we had huge deficits in each year, the total debt at this point is bigger than the entire U.S. economy.

Debt Clock 2016

For shame.

It pained me today to read this bit of news:

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will make a “major speech” on the 2016 White House race on Thursday, Fox News reported on Wednesday.

Fox News said there was no sign that Romney was set to enter the 2016 race, citing people close to the 2012 White House hopeful.

The speech is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. EST. <Huffingtonpost.com, link>

Like most people, I expect that Mitt might be crazy enough to throw his hat into the ring for the Republican nomination tomorrow, no doubt spurred on by the Republican establishment’s horror that Donald Trump is on track to win the nomination.

Although I thought in 2012 that Mitt Romney would have made an excellent president, the fact that he could not take his gloves off and rip apart Barack Hussein Obama’s character, his track record, and everything he stands for, disqualifies him from being the future Republican nominee.

You see, Mitt, you can’t just be “right for the job”, you have to WIN the job, and to do that you need to be willing to fight for it.

And you were not willing to fight for it in 2012, when you should have easily beaten a man who destroyed American health care while Wall Street got away with murder (not to mention running guns to Mexican drug cartels and then covering up such treachery).

Barack Obama destroyed your character in Ohio for nearly a year while you said and did nothing in return.

You think you have the stomach to take on Criminal Hillary Clinton in the general election?

No, you don’t. You are weak against Democrats who are willing to play dirty, and if you can’t win the job then you should not be the nominee.

Please stay at home, Mitt. You had your chance, and you let a man who obviously hates the United States beat you.

If you can’t beat Obama after such a disastrous first term, then you can’t beat anybody.

The Iranian treatment of our U.S. navy sailors in recent days is a new low in the ongoing destruction, by Barack Obama, of our military credibility around the world.

The most powerful military in the world is being allowed by Obama to look like this:

US Navy Sailors on their knees in the age of Obama

John McCain, showing some fire that he never showed in 2008 when he should have easily defeated Barack Obama, raised in Indonesia and promoting anti-American views, had some very appropriate things to say about it.

From an article in Politico, transcribing McCain’s appearance on Bill O’Reilly’s program <link>, emphasis added by me:

This is desperation not to offend the Iranians because the Iranian deal has to be kept intact. It’s now made the United States of America be the subject of absolute humiliation.

Unbelievably, Biden said this was just standard nautical practice, Kerry said all indications show the sailors were taken care of, Earnest — that idiot — said the proper courtesy…Iran gave our sailors the proper courtesy you’d expect. And Kerry, to top it all off, expressed his gratitude.  If a ship comes into your waters, first thing you do is contact them on the radio, then you send the coast guard out and say hey, if you got a problem here and you know you’re in our international waters, then turn them away and we’ll help you out. You don’t have … American sailors with their hands clasped behind their heads, and of course they said there was no apology. The Iranians just put up on the Internet one of our sailors apologizing. This is one, a propaganda coup, and if this is international law that any boat that strays into another nation’s international waters then we’ll incarcerate them for the night and put guns to their heads, this is an outrage.

The article points out that White House press secretary Joshua

…Earnest said the sailors were “being sort of afforded the proper courtesy that you would expect.”

That’s where we are in 2016, folks: the Obama administration considers abject humiliation of American military forces to be “…the courtesy that you would expect”.

And let’s not forget that as this latest blow to American military influence is taking place, Iran is being given a path to the development of nuclear weapons and the missiles that will be able to deliver those weapons to distant shores.

Our enemies are growing ever stronger, and they are being enabled, directly and indirectly, by Barack Obama and the “idiots” (in McCain’s words) who support him and work for him.

Failed Obamacare co-ops have now reached 10 out of 23 that were formed by the Obama bureaucracy, and the failure rate is gaining momentum as government bureaucrats reap the harvest of their ill-conceived, Liberal / Progressive fantasies of creating insurance companies out of thin air and then capitalizing them with several billion dollars of tax-payer funded loans.

The losses so far, according to a bloomberg.com story today entitled, and this is not a joke: “Your Health Plan Will Now Self-Destruct“:

Total value of federal loans to co-ops that have failed: $1,072,174,773

Hey now, that’s a BILLION dollars down the drain.

Nice going, Barack Obama.

Can the public sector create and run businesses that involve complex customer service and actuarial data analysis?

Of course not — what a dumb question to even ask.

But mr. Obama and Democrats in the House and Senate passed the “Affordable Care Act” in 2010 and pinned their hopes on just such misguided promises.

But don’t take my word for it, take the words of Kevin Counihan, director of the federal Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, which administers the co-ops and the Obamacare marketplaces.

The stark reality is that running an insurance company is a complicated, low-margin business. It requires a lot of experience. It requires a lot of good factors, and things can go south very quickly.

So simple, and yet as I write this many of my family and friends will still defend Obama’s government takeover of American health care.

It really makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Obama and Gruber destroy health care

It is no surprise that the Obama inJustice Department has decided not to prosecute Lois Lerner for carrying out Obama’s apparent strategy of using the IRS to intimidate and shut down political opposition to the Obama regime.

The Justice Department sent a letter to Congress on Friday, informing Members that neither Lerner nor anyone else at the Internal Revenue Service will face criminal charges stemming from the way they delayed consideration of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.

This is the second time the Obama Justice Department has let Lerner off the hook. This past April, DOJ attorneys said they would not prosecute her for contempt of Congress. <cnsnews.com, link>

As I wrote recently (link), the Office of the Independent Counsel needs to be brought back precisely for this set of circumstances: a president uses a part of his administration (the IRS in this case) to pursue political ends and another part of his administration (the Justice Department) refuses to uphold the law and prosecute administration members who may have broken the law.

Meanwhile, the ghost of Richard M. Nixon has got to be wondering why he resigned the presidency given the degree of lawlessness in the Obama administration.

Nixon wonders about Lois Lerner and Barry Obama

One of the more Orwellian themes promoted by Democrats is that Republicans engage in a “war on women”.

It is Orwellian because it is Democrats, not Republicans, who continually imperil women in the United States and around the world.

A case in point is this latest article in the New York Times about the recent fate of women in Afghanistan (see below).

Recall that George Bush chose to invade Afghanistan in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in order to destroy the Taliban regime and eliminate the safe havens for Osama Bin Laden’s terrorist training camps.

Recall also that this war succeeded. The Taliban was driven from power, as was Bin Laden.

And now take note of Barack Hussein Obama’s disastrous policy of total withdrawal of all U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan and the creation of a power vacuum that ISIS gladly filled (and had been planning for years as they listened to mr. Obama’s anti-American rhetoric).

So, in addition to the rise of ISIS, what has Obama’s policy wrought? The resurgence of the Taliban, including the recent takeover of Kunduz.

And what did the Taliban do to women once they took charge?

In a methodical campaign, the Taliban relentlessly hounded women with any sort of public profile, looted a high school and destroyed the offices of many of the organizations that protected and supported women in Kunduz.

Among those who have fled are the women who ran a shelter for female victims of violence, who Taliban commanders say are “immoral.”

Gone are educated women who worked for the government or international organizations; gone are some women who were school administrators and women who were activists for peace and democracy. They left, mostly at night, on foot or in run-down taxis, hiding under burqas, running for their lives. <New York Times, link>

Dr. Hassina Sarwari, the Kunduz Province director of Women for Afghan Women (a shelter for abused women, a family guidance center and a center for the children of women in the Kunduz prison) had this to say:

I won’t go back — I will never go back

But where will she go to be safe? And who will care for the women she protected now that she is gone?

But there is more. Here are some direct quotes, as reported in the New York Times, by a Taliban commander, named Abdul Wali Raghi:

Before we managed to take control of the shelter, Hassina Sarwari, the head of the shelter house, along with all the runaway sluts and immoral girls, had already left Kunduz city. Hassina Sarwari herself is an immoral slut, and if we had captured her, she would be hanged in the main circle in Kunduz city.

Yes, the New York Times is quoting this misogynist monster as using the term “immoral slut” several times, about a woman who provides care and comfort to women in her community.

I suggest to readers of this essay the following: a Republican president would not have allowed the Taliban to retake control of major cities in Afghanistan, and would therefore have spared women this gruesome fate.

Clinton war on womenMeanwhile, former president Bill Clinton, who trampled a women’s right to pursue her abuser in court for sexual harassment, is having a Bill Cosby moment (again). In a new book just released, dozens of women who were sexually assaulted by Mr. Clinton are given a voice. Here is a quote from an article about the new book (emphasis added):

The book recounts the stories of about two dozen women, beginning with one of Bill Clinton’s college classmates, who have stepped forward to claim that President Clinton sexually assaulted them. Some of the women received settlements of hundreds of thousands of dollars, some of them claim to have had their pets killed, their jobs terminated, their businesses audited by the IRS, their tires slashed, or to have received odd phone calls or queries from strange bypassing joggers about the health of their children. <Daily Caller, link>

Can you imagine being sexually assaulted and then, to add insult to bodily injury, having your livelihood, family members, and pets, hurt or threatened in such violent ways?

War on women, indeed.

When Barack Obama was elected in 2008, he vowed to fundamentally “transform” the United States, and he has delivered in many terrible, terrible ways, including putting us so deep into debt as a nation that our base of power (economic strength) may be imperiled beyond any future administration’s ability to repair it.

His latest hammer blow to American heritage is to unilaterally rename Mt. McKinley in Alaska.

The White House announced Sunday that President Obama is changing the name of North America’s highest peak. Mount McKinley — named after William McKinley, the 25th president, who served in the White House until his assassination in 1901 — is returning to its traditional Alaska Native name, Denali. <NPR, link>

mt mckinleyWhen I read some of the angry responses from lawmakers in Washington (Congress being ignore yet again by this most unconstitutional of presidents), I noticed that they were all from Ohio, because President McKinley was an Ohioan.

Ohio lawmakers reacted angrily Sunday to the White House’s announcement that President Obama would formally rename Alaska’s Mt. McKinley — North America’s highest peak — “Denali” during his trip to The Last Frontier this week.

Here is what Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Ohio, had to say <Fox News, link>:

Mount McKinley … has held the name of our nation’s 25th President for over 100 years. This landmark is a testament to his countless years of service to our country. This political stunt is insulting to all Ohioans, and I will be working with the House Committee on Natural Resources to determine what can be done to prevent this action.

President McKinleySo let’s observe that Barack Obama, who owes his very presidency to Ohio voters, is of course more than happy to score a nasty two-fer on the mountain renaming: (1) Remove the name of a former president from a natural wonder, and (2) thumb his nose at the state that, along with California, enabled him to occupy the White House and do his dirty deeds.

This is a man whose every action repudiates our English heritage — the return of the Winston Churchill bust, the mistreatment of the UK Prime Minister at the White House, and countless other actions — and renaming mountains is just one more brick in the wall of his two-term tantrum of destruction of all we hold dear.
