Megan McArdle over at Bloomberg just published some choice words about Obama’s latest film-flam on Obamacare: it seems Obama will once again change part of the law in order to distract from the ugly truth of what the law does to peoples’ wallets.
If you got health insurance subsidies last year, and you’re worried that you got too much in federal tax credits and will be faced with a huge tax bill for repayment, then you can worry a little less: The IRS says that people who are liable for repayment (“clawback”) of excess subsidies won’t have to pay by April 15. <Bloomberg, link>
I am encouraged that she is outing this increasingly obvious game, namely Obama’s race against time as voters wake up and realize they’ve been robbed blind by the man. His goal is clear: to let Obamacare asphyxiate the USA before its rottenness is rejected by angry voters who will, en masse, demand its repeal.
As McArdle says:
A bunch of people are about to find out that they got too much in subsidies, and now they owe the IRS hundreds, possibly even thousands, of dollars. Many of those people won’t have the money, and they are about to get very upset. So the Barack Obama administration did what it has done before: nursed the program forward with administrative rulings that minimize the political blowback.
Her best line about this aspect of Obama’s Ponzi scheme happens to double as a scathing indictment of Socialism:
The political will to impose the costs of the Affordable Care Act is a lot less strong than the will to distribute the benefits.
Exactly: democratically elected Socialists love to give away benefits and and not have to face voter backlash about the truth, which is that their policies are unaffordable.
In Socialism, the money eventually runs out (see: GREECE), or perhaps a nation’s fiscal accounts are so destroyed as to render the currency worthless, and financial and economic decay and destruction happen more slowly (see: modern America under Obama, though the mighty U.S. military indirectly keeps our currency undeservedly strong by maintaining our status as a Superpower safe-haven).
In Obamacare, the MONEY RAN OUT RIGHT AWAY. It was never there. He lied.
Here is a cartoon that reminded me of my own graphic that you’ve seen many times:
