If you hate the United States, 2014 was a very good year for you, with a few minor setbacks.
If you love the United States, 2014 was a very difficult year to endure, with a few silver linings and positive developments that may yet bring rescue in 2015.
To review 2014, a survey question comes to mind: Which of the following 2014 events was the most detrimental to the interests of the United States and its citizens?
- The rapid rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, whereby Muslim extremists successfully reversed a decade of American gains in the field of battle and began beheading Americans and other “infidels” and subjugating non-violent Muslims as well;
- The systemic multiple failures of the Affordable Care Act, whereby middle class Americans have seen their health care premiums skyrocket in exchange for worse health insurance coverage and less access to the care they need, all amidst the sickening reality that as our health care system starts to crumble into a giant ruin, tens of millions of Americans will still not be able to afford health insurance proving beyond all doubt that Obamacare’s stated mission of providing health insurance to everyone was and is a total fraud;
- Barack Obama’s multiple violations of the Oath of Office, sworn by all presidents (to, among other things, uphold and defend the Constitution), via his unilateral and selective changes to laws he doesn’t like (including his very own health care law, which he has toyed with incessantly in a tacit admission that it is a colossal mess);
- The escalating demonization of local police forces across the country and the resulting cop-killings;
- The worsening of race relations in the United States;
- The orchestrated invasion of the United States by some 69,000 Mexican and Central American children, who supposedly traveled on their own over 1,000 miles to the U.S. border before being welcomed into the country as if there were no border between our nations and as if there were not Americans already living here who are in desperate need of help.
The answer to “which of these is the worst” hardly matters: our country is being butchered from the inside by the current occupant of the White House, Barack Obama, and all of these are profoundly damaging to all Americans and to the very core of our being as a nation.
Obama as Victim?
One of Barack Obama’s many talents is to violently assault the United States while simultaneously appearing to be a victim worthy of sympathy.
Note that Michael Wilbon, a sports commentator and occasional golf buddy of mr. Obama, recently remarked that Obama has an “astounding ability” to “compartmentalize” the stresses of being president.
First of all, with the world plunging into religious warfare and renewed terrorism and with the United States further hanging itself in every way imaginable, should anybody really buy into the notion that Barack Obama is “stressed”? Is he the victim of his own bad policies, or are we?
Second, Mr. Wilbon, Barack Obama is not feeling anguish about all of the disasters mentioned above, an anguish from which he needs to escape through an “astounding ability to compartmentalize” — no, he is feeling jubilation, just as the world’s America-hating dictators and megalomaniacs feel each time America suffers a crisis or calamity.
I’ll bet you find this hard to accept, but at this point, six years into this man’s regime, it is undeniable. Barack Obama has openly embraced many dictators and vicious thugs masquerading as political leaders (see CUBA). He genuinely seems to like and respect them, and I have no doubt he shares their disgust and contempt for the United States.
Here he is below with Hugo Chavez, a man whose Fascist takeover of Venezuela included nationalizing whole industries, impoverishing the entire nation, and imprisoning a judge, María Lourdes Afiuni, for failing to support his dictatorial acts. Judge Alfiuni was raped and had an abortion while in prison:
Ms. Afiuni was arrested after she allowed the release of a businessman charged with subverting currency controls. She said that her ruling complied with a recommendation by United Nations human rights monitors.
Incensed, Mr. Chávez demanded on national television that Ms. Afiuni be given a 30-year prison sentence. But she has refused to cooperate…Ms. Afiuni’s lawyer, José Amalio Graterol, on Monday confirmed the account of the rape…<New York Times, link>
Central Planning Failures Revealed (AGAIN)
2014 offered us another entry into the World History of Why Central Planning is Doomed To Fail in Managing Complex Systems — no, I’m not referring to Obamacare, which is failing more every day despite propaganda otherwise — I’m referring to the state of health care in Veterans Administration hospitals:
These problems included employees tampering with official records to hide long wait times for veterans seeking health-care appointments and some managers punishing whistleblowers who tried to highlight problems. Excessive wait times even contributed to some deaths, according to the VA’s own internal watchdog. <Wall Street Journal, link>
Long wait times….some leading to premature deaths of America’s war veterans….Tampering with official records….Punishing of whistleblowers….
Sounds like a centrally planned government bureaucracy to me, with the same result that has been seen in every attempt at fascist control of complexity.
If you support the Affordable Care Act, you support what has happened at VA hospitals, but for you and your family and for the whole country. How do you feel about yourself?
Some positive developments in 2014
2014 had one major positive development: the Republican landslide election victories in the House and Senate, which deposed Harry Reid’s vile Senate leadership and ensured that Barack Obama will face sustained opposition to his tireless anti-American policies.
This electoral repudiation of Barack Obama and his policies — in fact he said himself that his policies were “on the ballot” — was once again an opportunity for mr. Obama to play the victim as opposed to being a leader.
Another significant positive development was the country’s awakening regarding Barack Obama’s lies. Many of us have been railing against his obvious lies since at least 2007 when he emerged on the national stage, but this year a majority of Americans seemed to wake up from the spell of dark magic that this man cast upon the world.
I could say “It’s about time!”, but actually it is seven years late…but let’s stay positive: Barack Obama’s Obamacare lies are now in full view even to his supporters. But also to senior Democrats such as Chuck Schumer, who has publicly trashed Obamacare, and Tom Harkin (another Obamacare architect who now feels ashamed, as he should, for saddling our nation with this monstrous law).
When citizens awake from a terrible delusion, they do so slowly and with trepidation — “could our dear leader be lying to us?”. But as the first few brave souls speak out, honest people feel emboldened to proclaim that they see the liar in plain sight and no longer believe him.
A case in point is mr. Obama’s recent Orwellian statements that race relations in the United States have improved since he became president (demonstrating once again that mr. Obama has been rewarded by voters so many times despite his lies that he thinks he can implant his false reality into the minds of “stupid” American voters). But Americans do not agree with his assessment:
A strong plurality of Americans disagree with the attorney general’s contention, with a November NBC News poll showing 40 percent believe race relations have soured under President Obama while just 20 percent felt they had improved. <National Review, link>
Even better are the public figures who speak out against Obama and his cronies and call them liars. From David Clarke, Milwawkee County Sheriff, in reaction to Barack Obama’s and Bill DeBlasio’s comments about the recent murders of police officers:
However, I notice that these individuals – de Blasio, the president, are issuing now contrite statements about how they respect and admire our law enforcement officers – I think it’s hollow. I don’t accept it. <link>
This is the elixir that we need: upstanding citizens and leaders boldly refusing to accept the Obama programming.
To Uphold and Defend the United States Constitution
But what we also need is aggressive leadership in the House and Senate to protect and defend the Constitution and the legislative branch against a lawless executive.
The worst provisions of Obamacare have been delayed by Obama on purpose, in order to avoid the kinds of election losses he and his party just suffered (i.e., the strategy did not work in that sense). But they are coming fast, with IRS agents about to enforce much more expensive penalties for those who fail to buy insurance, and with the Cadillac Tax and many other anti-employer provisions looming that will obliterate our health care system and cause financial and physical suffering in every corner of the nation.
We as a nation are approaching $18 trillion in debt in a $14 trillion economy, while simultaneously importing hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, and guaranteeing health care for all. The year 2014 was a year in which the insanity of these policies began to be seen by more Americans than ever before, and for this we should end the year on a thankful note.
God Bless America, the greatest nation to ever grace the face of the earth, and may we fight to preserve it, the last, best hope of earth.
Thank you to those who read my blog, I appreciate your patronage very much. I have not been able to write as often as I would like, but will endeavor to speak my mind (and entertain a bit) at a pace that keeps up with events week to week.
Best wishes to all, and to great luck and fortune in 2015!
