Barack Obama is perhaps the greatest example of the power of “Acting as If” we have ever witnessed in our lifetimes. To see this, just watch a few minutes of the 2014 State of the Union speech he delivered to the Congress — his beaming confidence and almost celebratory countenance….you would have thought the country was doing well and not suffering the worst and most persistent unemployment since 1929, and that the USA was projecting strength around the world and not abject weakness on which thugs the world over are feasting at this very moment.
There is a reason for this behavior, and that is that leaders who project confidence can convince their followers that all is okay and that we are all in good hands, despite what we read and see and experience every day. This is the power of salesmanship: most of us are ambivalent about most things, and someone with conviction can rally us to a belief even if that belief is contrary to what we know to be true.
And so on Obamacare, Barack Obama and his minions have been making statements “AS IF” the law is working, despite the fact that in truth, it is the Hindenburg and a total colossal disaster for all Americans.
Nancy Pelosi, ever the student of the Obamagogue, had this to say last week:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) sunnily cast aside concerns that the Affordable Care Act would be a liability for Democratic candidates in this year’s midterm elections, saying Thursday that the law would instead help her party.
“I believe that it’s a winner,” Pelosi said at a news conference, arguing that Democrats will run on the law in their campaigns. <source>
Now that is as good example of “Acting As If” as I can find. She thinks that if she mouths the words “It’s a winner” that it will actually BE a winner and that people will believe it just because she said it.
But it won’t work this time, and statements like Pelosi’s will serve only to make their authors appear idiotic and stupid even to the faithful.
Here is why: Obamacare’s evil effects on the average American are being felt DIRECTLY and PERSONALLY.
- Voters are not reading about insurance cancellations, they are getting cancelled themselves;
- Voters are not just reading about soaring premiums, they are facing soaring premiums themselves;
- Voters are not just reading about the financial shock and pain of higher deductibles, they are getting hit with higher deductibles themselves;
- Voters are not just reading about people losing hours (40 hours per week to 30) because of Obamacare, they are losing hours themselves;
- Voters are not just reading about employers abandoning employer plans and dumping people onto exchanges that don’t work, they are getting dumped themselves and experiencing inoperable exchanges themselves
This is why Barack Hussein Obama has been dismantling his own law, piece by piece by piece, through delayed implementation of it: the more the law does its evil work, the more Americans understand what a mistake the law is and how they were lied to over and over again about it.
But the delays are not enough to fool people.
This time, Barack Hussein Obama’s “Acting As If” is crumbling like dust all around him, and in fact hurting his credibility along the way, paving the way for Republicans to win the Senate this November.
Obamacare is not only the Hindenburg, it is a Hindenburg raining down hellfire on tens of millions of hard working Americans, directly.
Not through Fox News, or the Tea Party, but directly.
For Democrats, there will be hell to pay, and there should be.
