The evidence that Barack Obama not only lied about Obamacare, but did so willfully and in a premeditated fashion, is airtight and fully available for us all to see (for those with their eyes open).
To wit: The Cadillac Tax, scheduled to violently destroy above-average health care insurance plans in 2017.
This part of the law has been known from the beginning, but people tend to block out the truth when it contradicts their love affairs. In May of this year, the media started writing about the Cadillac Tax as if to remind everyone it’s coming…
One part of Obamacare that has become newly controversial applies to its taxation of employer-provided health insurance policies that offer extremely valuable benefits. Dubbed the Cadillac tax, this rule doesn’t take effect until 2018, but when it does, the impact could be draconian. <source>
Ah yes, “draconian”.
And I didn’t even write that sentence.
Under the law, if an individual health-insurance policy costs more than $10,200, the employer has to pay a 40% excise tax for any amount above that $10,200 threshold.
But as is usual for Obama-created laws, the destruction of a target group in the population causes collateral damage (kind of like those 40 million souls who starved to death “inadvertently” after Mao Tse Tung collectivized agriculture in the 1950s).
Moreover, one big problem with the threshold figures is that they’re the same for people of all ages. That doesn’t match up with the economics of health insurance, where policies for older workers cost far more than policies with identical benefits for younger workers.
As a result, older workers are more likely to trigger the Cadillac tax for their employers over time, giving employers yet another incentive to favor a younger workforce even as more workers approaching retirement age seek to extend their careers.
Hey, isn’t that great? You will lose your plan, even though Barack Obama promised you that you could keep it, and not only that, if you are an older American, you will be fired and replaced by a younger person who will be less likely to trigger the Cadillac tax for his employer.
My key message here is that this terrible, unjust outcome — the guaranteed cancellation of millions of generous health care policies in 2017 and 2018 — is known RIGHT NOW.
So when Republicans try very hard to defund the Affordable Care Act, try to remember that these are the reasons why.
No news headlines are required — we know, and have known, that the law is a DISASTER and will continue to destroy lives and choices for all Americans.
REPEAL is the answer, the only answer.
