I saw this story today about the federal government sending money to health clinics and started to have that familiar sinking feeling about more government waste…
The federal government announced Thursday it will give community health centers $150 million to help hire more staff, buy equipment and rent space to treat more than a million new patients. <source>
But that turned out not to be the real story…I read on and realized that the federal government has been funding these clinics for many decades, and that tens of millions of people already benefit from them — long before Obamacare was crammed down our throats:
There are about 1,200 federally qualified community health centers across the country. They started out as grassroots organizations, and in 1965, the federal government started giving them money when it became clear they were filling gaps in the messy U.S. health care system. The Health and Human Services Department estimates they provide care now to 21 million people.
That’s right, folks, 21 MILLION PEOPLE receiving subsidized care LONG BEFORE OBAMACARE.
So it turns out that this article is an inadvertent poster-child for how American health care was not broken and needing fixing by this Marxist America-hater.
