You know the Manchurian is in trouble when the boys at Yahoo News start turning on him.
I love the following few paragraphs on Barack Obama’s speech tonight, in which he once again tried to sound coherent on what his intentions are regarding the mess in Syria and the mess of his failed leadership on the subject.
This review is courtesy of Mr. Olivier Knox of Yahoo News:
The president’s speech amounted to his second dramatic about-face on the international stage with regard to Syria. Only 10 days ago, in the Rose Garden, he shocked the world by impatiently challenging Congress to back him up on his decision to go to war with Syria.
On Tuesday, Obama earnestly announced that he was pursuing a diplomatic option and pleaded with Congress not to screw it up by voting on (and defeating) his request to use military force.
In both cases, Obama disguised the fact that he was boxed in by circumstances, many of his own making. <source>
I like the phrase “Obama disguised…” because this is his particular talent: he deflects attention away from his own accountability.
But these days his sophistry is being busted by his own allies in the media, and we should be heartened by this, indeed.
