I know it’s painful, but remember last year when John Roberts voted to uphold the Obama fascism known as the individual mandate, in which Americans for the first time in history would be required by law to buy a product from private companies (or else be penalized by the government… through the IRS)?
And remember why the individual mandate was so important to Obamacare?
It was, and is, central to Obamacare because the only way to compel insurance companies to offer coverage for an additional 20 – 40 million people is to steal from the young and healthy (most of whom voted for Barack Obama, but there you go) and force them to buy insurance even if they don’t need or want it.
I suppose the Obama administration would like to avoid sending in the storm troopers, Nazi Germany style, to enforce Obamacare against young Americans who don’t comply…because the latest propaganda from Kathleen Sebelius is aimed squarely at America’s youth.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the federal government was in the midst of negotiations on advertising campaigns and potential partnerships as part of an outreach effort that will intensify over the summer and early fall.
“The NFL, for instance, in the conversations I’ve had, has been very actively and enthusiastically engaged because they see health promotion as one of the things that is good for them and good for the country,” Sebelius told reporters.
An NFL spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
The campaign is expected to target 2.7 million younger consumers between the ages of 18 to 35, mostly male and non-white, whose participation in new online health insurance exchanges is vital to the success of President Barack Obama’s 2010 healthcare reform law. <source>
Since when does having a gun to your head, put there by Barack Obama and John Roberts, that forces you to buy something make you a CONSUMER?
Oh, but the story was written by the White House and promulgated by Reuters, so why not have our daily dose of Orwellian language.
The challenge will be to overcome huge public skepticism, particularly among young and healthy consumers, that the new plans are worthwhile. Individuals who don’t obtain insurance will face a penalty that begins at $95 in 2014 and rises to 2.5 percent of annual income in 2016.
Yep, there’s that word again, “CONSUMERS”, followed by another word: PENALTY.
Liberals love to parrot the John Roberts blasphemy and remind us that the individual mandate is really a “tax”, except that they fall silent when asked which government authority collects the insurance premiums…
Then they counter with the car insurance example, saying the individual mandate is akin to forcing people to have car insurance if they want to drive a car…
Once again I say: imagine that you are living in the middle of New York City and that you therefore don’t own a car; you take the subway, or the bus, or taxis, or all three depending on what is most convenient. And then here comes Obama and John Roberts and they order you to buy car insurance because the almighty government, in cahoots with auto insurance company giants who are the patrons of government, needs you to subsidize all the drivers of cars. What’s that, you don’t want to buy car insurance? Too bad….Barack Obama is here to compel you because that is what he does: compel citizens, take from them and give to others, spy on them, use the IRS against them, attempt to disarm them, make them dependent on the state, and otherwise enslave their very souls, all with the promise that with the right patronage, the government might grant a waiver here or an exemption there.
The patronage society, young people, and you are the target now, whether on Facebook, or when you are watching football, or in regard to how you spend your healthcare dollars.
