Barack Obama is a big success in at least one respect: making fools of his Cabinet Secretaries, and making fools of all those who voted for him.
The constant abuse of power at the Justice Department and the AG’s steadfast excuses for overseeing it have proved this point repeatedly in the last year, and adding to the pile lately is the testimony of Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services, regarding her Chicago-style abuse of power to support Obamacare.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has admitted that she talked to three additional groups about publicizing the health care law — but she’s digging in against GOP suggestions that her outreach efforts were improper.
Appearing before Congress for the first time since news broke about her calls to drum up support from outside groups, Sebelius on Tuesday had a slew of defenses ready to go. She said her calls were legal, appropriate and no different than what her Republican predecessors had done in similar situations. <source>
Recall that Sebelius was equally brazen (on Obama’s behalf, once again making herself look stupid) when she admitted to intentionally double counting alleged “savings” under Obamacare:
During a hearing on Capitol Hill Thursday, the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) admitted to double-counting in the Obamacare budget.
In her first appearance before the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee since the health-care law passed, Kathleen Sebelius responded to a line of questioning by Republican Rep. John Shimkus of Illinois about whether $500 billion in Medicare cuts were used to sustain the program or pay for the law.
“There is an issue here on the budget because your own actuary has said you can’t double-count,” said Shimkus. “You can’t count — they’re attacking Medicare on the CR when their bill, your law, cut $500 billion from Medicare.”
He continued: “Then you’re also using the same $500 billion to what? Say your funding health care. Your own actuary says you can’t do both. […] What’s the $500 billion in cuts for? Preserving Medicare or funding the health-care law?
Sebelius’ reply? “Both.” <source>
Has she no self-respect? Is there anything she won’t do for mr. Obama?
As for her being an accomplice to Barack Obama’s Chicago / Soviet style bullying and intimidation on Obamacare implementation, Senator Orrin Hatch summed up her behavior rather easily:
On the Senate side, Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), ranking member of the Finance Committee, issued a highly critical statement about her House testimony, saying she “admitted to having pressured the very companies her agency regulates” and that it raises serious ethical and legal questions.
“The message being sent by the Obama administration is get behind this private group, run by a former White House staffer, and we’ll give you more favorable treatment when it comes to regulations,” he said. “That’s bullying plain and simple.” <source>
What we are witnessing here is an open lesson in how power-mongering statists can strong-arm a society built on principles of freedom and due process. If you are a fascist and you love to squash bugs that you call people, then Obamacare is the equivalent of a new and exciting amusement park ride that will satisfy your lust for decades to come.
And so the iron hand of the State smashes down on our population, again and again, under the regime of Barack Obama.
But he does it through others who willingly follow him.
Authors have written millions of pages of analysis on various tyrants, demagogues, and thugs, but I wonder how much analysis has been done on the teams of loyal supporters who surround these harmful people? Why does Sebelius carry out this man’s wishes? Why does she now make pathetic attempts to cover her tracks in testimony that is so obviously false?
