The iPad comes pre-loaded with an App called Flipboard, which is a convenient new content aggregator beautifully designed for magazine-style reading on a tablet, only better (except that the default news sources are left-leaning rags, but what did you expect?).
Flipboard offers e-magazines with themes, and one of these is called “I Made That”, by Caroline O’Hare. It is a compendium of articles with the theme of “DIY” (Do It Yourself) and boasts 27,735 readers, which is extraordinary (we bloggers know how hard it is to attract an audience that large).
But when I saw it, all I could think about was the immortal words of Barack Hussein Obama in late 2012: “YOU DIDN’T BUILD THAT”, which he spoke to a campaign crowd of like-minded government-as-father enemies of personal responsibility.
Listen to the cheers as this Impostor, this collectivist, indulges in his un-American message:
He actually says the following words:
If you’ve got a business, that– you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.
The thing is, he actually believes this.
Often politicians say things they don’t believe just so that they can cling to power. But Barack Obama has never held a real job, never been part of a company, never seen how business works from the inside; entrepreneurs may as well be zoo animals for his amusement, to be kept in cages while the bureaucratic elite throw scraps and imagine that they can control beings they cannot hope to understand.
And so in his case, he says such a wrong and poisonous thing because he believes it and because, as his luck would have it, it brings him votes.
In Obama’s America, the self-directed individual is the enemy of the state and the ideology of personal responsibility is an affront to Obama’s Chicago / Indonesian brand of statism (fascism).
In Obama’s America, “DIY” is disgraceful in the eyes of petty bureaucrats who dream technicolor dreams of things they’ve never done.
Where would the bureaucrat be if you could exist without him? Nowhere, and that is where most of them should go.
But by saying such words I merely piss in the wind and spray my own face: the era of soul-crushing bureaucracy has returned in force, which of course is the natural order of things, as any survey of human history will attest, and which Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Franklin, Madison, Hamilton, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Reagan saved us from for a few shining centuries.
A man who gloated “YOU DIDN’T BUILD THAT” was re-elected and allowed to continue subjecting our nation to ongoing assault by the IRS, the Justice Department, the State Department, and soon the healthcare bureaucracy, which will add actual death to the list of tortures inflicted on the American people.
May god save our souls.
