Last year, arch-Liberal Barney Frank (D) announced that he retroactively is withdrawing his support for the Obamacare Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), a bit of outright fascism that even he could no longer pretend was not a knife to the heart of America (Barney Frank Tries to Atone). Thus began a growing chorus of Democrats who are increasingly nervous about the ugly, hideous, monstrosity known as Obamacare.
And the chorus is getting much louder indeed:
Max Baucus — the Democratic chairman of the Senate’s Finance Committee and a key architect of the healthcare reform law — told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a hearing last month that he is concerned that the implementation of the Obama administration’s signature healthcare law will be a “train wreck”. He said he fears that Americans will not understand how the law will work. <source>
Mr. Obama was just challenged by a reporter as follows:
The reporter, referencing this incident, asked the president why Democrats have been “whispering nervousness about the implementation” of the legislation and indicating that it may have a negative effect on their 2014 political campaigns. “Why does Senator Baucus, somebody who extensively helped write your bill, believe that this is going to be a train wreck?” he asked. “And why do you believe he’s wrong?”
In answer to this question, Mr. Obama offered a very weak defense of the UN-affrodable Care Act, essentially hanging his hat on the fact that the legislation has stood up to Supreme Court challenges.
But being that he is who he is, he could not help but offering us all another monumental lie about it:
“But I think the main message I want to give to the American people here is despite all the hue and cry and, you know, sky-is-falling predictions about this stuff, if you’ve already got health insurance then that part of “Obamacare” that affects you, it’s pretty much already in place,” Obama said.
Already in place?
Oh no, it is not already in place. The worst aspects of the law are scheduled, on purpose, to be implemented in 2014. These include the IPAB and also the severe requirements (read: penalties in the case of non-compliance) on small businesses and citizens.
Obamacare is, and always was, a train wreck.
Shame on all those who supported it, shame on the likely threats that probably were made to John Roberts before his ruling, and shame on the electorate for returning this man to office.
