The Power of Three
There are three great economic cultures driving and controlling the wealth (and therefore power) of the world: the United States, the European Union, and China.
>Two of these have a rich heritage of liberty, democracy, and the rights of man. The other is founded on ruthless and soul-crushing central government control over every subject (not “citizen”).
>Two of these are being crushed by self-inflicted excessive debt, the natural result of decades of steady degradation of personal responsibility. The other is sitting atop trillions of dollars of surplus, the natural result of hard work and delayed gratification.
Though still behind the West in economic and military scale, China is in its ascendency, while the USA and the EU are in decline, and the fate of freedom-loving peoples the world over hangs in the balance. We in the West cannot fault the rise of China, which has been inevitable. However, we must redouble our efforts to preserve the success and power of our own civilization by defeating the cancer known as Liberalism, which is home-grown and which has systematically weakened and destroyed our culture of self-reliance and self-determination.
Malignant Liberal Belief Killing the EU: Moral Supremacy of the Unproductive
In Europe we see an accelerating cultural and economic suicide that could rival 2008 as the EU tries to contain the contagion that was spawned in a crown jewel of Liberal moral supremacy of the unproductive: Greece. Greece has revealed itself to be the living embodiment of the notion that the unproductive can forever ride on the backs of the productive — first on the backs of other Greek citizens, and now on the backs of Europeans across dozens of countries.
By the middle of the oughts it had become a sclerotic welfare state in which those who work hard could not possibly cover the debts of those who feed off of the system, and so Greece went begging — in disguise — and lied its way into the EURO currency, promising a fiscal deficit equal to 3% of GDP when the truth was closer to 13% (echoes of the lies Obama has told). Germany and other productive countries took the bait and promptly choked on it as the truth came to light, which is to say, as the bills came due and the Greeks couldn’t pay them.
All of its neighbors have tried to come to Greece’s rescue, but the whole scene has come to resemble an orgy of violent pigs who, standing knee-deep in shit, rip at the soggy roots of the oak trees of Europe.
This is Liberalism at its most dirty: a carnival of the lazy and the gluttonous laying waste to wealth, yet doing so with righteous claims to virtue.
Malignant Liberal Belief Killing the USA: Utopia
Meanwhile in America, Liberalism is destroying the United States, as mr. Obama’s statist policies grow Leviathan and the national debt while choking the economy and fomenting class warfare. A key driver of such policies is the Liberal belief in Utopia — the 100% solution — which does not exist on Earth, but which Liberals vainly believe they can bring about.
Tragically for them and for all of us, their obsession with, and pursuit of, utopia brings only its opposite: hell on Earth. Liberalism, when stripped of its faux compassion, is indeed ugly, barren, and cancerous.
What’s that you say, Liberal Gollum — you want me to back up such grand statements with data? Examples of your bankruptcy are legion, and so this is an easy request. Here are but two recent examples:
>Home ownership was working for 60% of the population, but not the mythical 100%. So what did Liberals do? TRIED TO PUSH IT TO 100%. Never mind that home ownership is a serious financial burden and responsibility (“Money pit” is no exaggeration): Bill Clinton, Barney Frank, and Bob Rubin forced private sector banks, with accusations of racism, to give mortgages to families who could never hope to pay them back, and then used government agencies (Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac) to buy these bad loans from the banks as a way of disguising and burying default risks inside tax-payer funded entities.
This lethal Clinton / Frank cocktail led directly to the 2008 Global Financial Crash (chronicled rather thoroughly by Gretchen Morgenson in Reckless Endangerment), which destroyed trillions of dollars of wealth, including home values but so much more, and which precipitated home foreclosures against those very same families who should never have been saddled with a mortgage in the first place…but which also destroyed wealth for 100% of Americans, and in fact 100% of the population of the Earth. I guess it didn’t work out too well.
>Health Care has been working well for 87% of the population [260 million of 300 million Americans], as well as for many foreigners who continue to flock to the USA on a regular basis to receive the best health care in the world, but not for the mythical 100%. So what did Liberals do? TRIED TO PUSH IT TO 100%. Barack Obama, David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and so many other corrupt bureaucrats passed Obamacare in the wake of their propaganda campaign (blatant lies) about its costs and its likely impact on private health insurance. So how is it going? The law’s principal destructive power will not be unleashed until 2014, but already many private companies are announcing that they will abandon their health care offerings for their employees in favor of the one now offered by the federal government.
The basic question is whether America will abandon the current system of employer-sponsored health care in favour of insurance offered through state exchanges. A new survey from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) suggests that it might… The report bolsters the results of another survey published by McKinsey last month. McKinsey’s report found that 30% of firms would definitely or probably stop offering insurance after 2014…<source>
And the Odds Favor…
As always in the incarnate realm, the world is locked in a Yin/Yang swirl of opposing ideologies and forces, with the USA and the EU together providing the force for good and the Communist Chinese weighing in for Fascism and the death of the Individual. Just a few years ago the EURO currency was powerful, having risen 40% against the U.S. dollar over ten years and giving Europe a platform through which it could compete for global economic hegemony. While this was mildly threatening to the United States, it was in hindsight a blessing as China presses forward inexorably with its own plans for global domination.
I continue to believe that free and democratic, capitalist societies will always vanquish despotic regimes, such as was the case when England and the United States defeated Germany and Japan in the 1940s, and when Ronald Reagan’s America defeated the USSR.
However, Liberalism has rotted the foundations of what makes us strong and has shifted the odds of winning towards those who would enslave their own nation and any others whose necks they could force into the yoke.
If we lose, it will be because we failed to reverse the tide of Liberalism and allowed it to slit our own throats. Dying by one’s own hand is thought to be marginally better than at the hands of an enemy, but there is no comfort in this consolation.
Let there only be victory for the righteous, and the righteous is WE.
