While we are on the topic of the useful idiots of powerful men (see my weekend essay), I found this quote from Monica Lewinskey, who was quite upset by Bill Clinton’s writings about their affair in his book “My Life”.
‘He talked about it as though I had laid it all out there for the taking. I was the buffet and he just couldn’t resist the dessert.’ <source>
From this quote you can see that Ms. Lewinsky persists in her fiction that she was more than a “dessert” at Clinton’s female flesh buffet.
No, Monica, you were nothing more than that.
I get that this is an inconvenient and painful truth, but the fact is you were one of many of Bill’s useful idiots, and you played your role perfectly, including the part where you very likely perjured yourself in Senate testimony during Clinton’s impeachment trial.
But just as Ms. Money Penny has come to her senses, Monica Lewinsky also managed to find her more truthful voice and stop shielding felonious Bill.
She could not resist speaking out two years ago, saying Clinton lied under oath when he described their relationship during an impeachment trial. The claims were made in the book The Death of American Virtue, by law professor Ken Gormley. In an email to Gormley, Lewinsky made it clear she believes the president lied.
‘There was no leeway [there] on the veracity of his statements because they asked him detailed and specific questions to which he answered untruthfully,’ she wrote.
Brava, Ms. Lewinsky.
I wonder did she see it as her duty to this nation? Not to take any of the scum off slick willy, Monica obviously did not care who could have been hurt in her enjoyment of cigars.
