The state of California is reliably “blue” in the political sense, choked as it is on Liberalism in all its destructive forms. It is said that California is a kind of incubator of ideas for the country, and as California goes, so goes the nation.
Well if that is so, our nation will be going bankrupt soon.
Mammoth Lakes has become the second California municipality to file for bankruptcy in the span of a week in the face of a $43m legal judgment related to a dispute with a developer. <source>
One by one, California cities are cutting back on basic services, such as fire safety and law enforcement, as Liberal fantasies drain away the very last of citizen tax dollars. And anyway, why put house fires out and impede home invasion when the care and feeding of illegal immigrants is first priority?
Mammoth Lakes follows the northern California city of Stockton, which last week filed Chapter 9, the part of the US bankruptcy code applicable to municipalities. Stockton, the largest US city by population to file for bankruptcy in decades, turned to the courts after a months-long effort to cut deals with creditors over labour and borrowing costs under the same mediation process attempted by Mammoth Lakes. Stockton has about 290,000 residents.
It is not often that the endgame of Liberalism, which is bankruptcy, is actually achieved, but California is downright drunk on Liberalism and it is allowed to mutate and metastasize unchecked by Republican push-back.
In 2008, Vallejo, another northern California city, declared bankruptcy under which it renegotiated labour contracts, cut interest payments to some creditors and slashed services to its citizens. <source>
The police force has shrunk from 153 officers to 92. Calls for any but the most serious crimes go unanswered. Residents who complain about prostitutes or vandals are told to fill out a form. Three of the city’s firehouses were closed. Last summer, a fire ravaged a house in one of the city’s better neighborhoods; one of the firetrucks came from another town, 15 miles away. <source>
And yet Liberals in California, and across the country, remain happily oblivious to the consequences of their actions despite the slow-motion train wreck that their policies create. Before descending into full-fledged bankruptcy, California cities go through a kind of Labrea tar-pit moaning agony:
In Oakland things got so bad that the police chief announced at one point that his department would no longer respond to certain crimes. The list of crimes included grand theft, burglary, car wrecks, identity theft and vandalism. Today, Oakland is consideredthe 5th most violent city in the United States. <source>
Is the problem that California’s taxes are too low, causing revenue shortfalls that cannot keep pace with the Liberal spending machine? On the contrary:
California has one of the highest state income tax rates in the nation, one of the highest sales tax rates in the nation and the highest gasoline tax rate in the nation. <source>
Gee, that’s strange: all of those high taxes, and yet cities are reducing basic services and then going broke altogether? How could this be? Liberalism, that’s how.
Well, at least with all those generous social services for the down-and-out there are very few children living in poverty….oh wait, woops……..
Sadly, the number of children living in poverty in the state of California has increased by a staggering 30 percent since 2007. <source>
High taxes, dwindling services for citizens, increasing poverty, and increasing crime.
In other words, a Liberal utopia, in the real world.
California will, once again, deliver its electoral votes in a landslide for Barack Hussein Obama, which is only fitting given the utter and total destruction that Liberalism has perpetrated there.
A match made in hell, indeed.

Stockton, Vallejo, and sad to say Oakland (My place of birth) are as well deeply infiltrated by drugs, and gangs, most likely leading to their downfall. The occupy movement in Oakland has turned it in to ruin and a war zone. The city should be under marshal law in my opinion until somebody can assert the type of control (military) to put an end to the madness,
Ca is a Blue state but it is shocking as well to see this as we voted down the same sex marriage bill and the legalization of marijuana bill.
