We know those Europeans love their soccer, and in the latest tournament of consequence the team from Greece was matched against the team from Germany.
When Germany was pitted against Greece in Friday’s quarter-final of Euro 2012, the subtext was obvious. And as German journalist Paul Ronzheimer discovers, based in Athens for Bild newspaper, few people are talking about the football. <source>
Yes, the subtext is obvious: Greek Socialists have bankrupted their country through a giant central state that employs everybody-and-his-brother and that promises riches to young retirees who wish to live on the dole for the remaining 40 years of their respective lives.
The Greeks are looking for payback against the Germans. They feel that a duel between Greece and Germany has been going on for much longer, an unequal duel.
“Payback”? For what, bailing out your Socialist wastrel asses?
A “Duel”? What duel? Germany is your savior and you treat the relationship as a duel?
Since the start of the crisis, they think they have been insulted and dictated to by German politicians, as the country has had to introduce sweeping austerity in return for bailout payments.
Insulted!
Apparently the Greeks would not feel so victimized if the Germans would just give them billions of EUROs without any strings attached.
And I’d feel less victimized if a naked Monica Belluci would sing me Happy Birthday at our Italian villa in Tuscany.
But it’s not going to happen, nor should anyone expect such things to happen.
But it gets worse: not only has German wealth been relied upon to bail out Greek Socialists, and not only are the Greeks ungrateful, the Greeks are also feeling contemptuous of their German ally:
The arguments have already escalated to the extent that Ms Merkel has been depicted time and again in an SS uniform on the front page of Greek newspapers. And over 70% of Greeks now believe that Germany wants to bring in a “Fourth Reich”.
The Fourth Reich?? Ouch.
So let’s summarize the situation: the Greeks committed fraud when they entered the European currency union by lying about the state of their bankrupt fiscal accounts (a deficit of over 13% at the time when the eligibility required no worse than 3%), and then they ran out of money and the ugly truth about their Socialist debacle became known world-wide, and then the Germans began leading multiple bailout facilities in the billions of EUROs to save the Greek state from collapsing in on itself (which is to say into anarchy and likely civil war as a nation based on beggar-thy-neighbor turned into a failed state of fight-for-survival), and then the Greeks branded the Germans as the reincarnation of the Nazi regime.
Admittedly there is nothing shocking about this example of the Liberal mind at work, nothing at all.
Sense of entitlement – check
Run out of own money and then other people’s money – check
Tantrum when faced with reality – check
Normal pacifism replaced by violence when free lunch runs out - check
Greedily accept bailout money from the next sucker to come by with some more free stuff – check
Ingratitude / viciously biting the hand that feeds them – check
Acting in a craven selfish fashion while imagining themselves to be selfless – check
No shame despite exhibiting the worst kind of ugly behavior – check
This journey inside the Liberal mind is winding down, and thank god because it is nauseating, as usual.
May visions of Monica lift us back up.

How is anybody supposed to reply in their right mind after that pic….I need a cold shower.
But yeah Greece is acting like a red headed step child.

When he panders for votes he lets anybody in the front door. Such a disgrace.
Greece, coming to America! Soon!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees Belluci as a rare genuinely hot actress. God, she’s beautiful.
That’s one bit of equality I wouldn’t mind forcing on the world: all women being able to compete with Belluci for beauty (not necessarily with all the same body type, you understand, just a world of beautiful women. I think most of our problems with disappear, along with the feminists.
