I am in the middle of a fun essay about the recent insanity that took place at the home of Sarah Parker (she and Anna Wintour hosted an Obama fundraiser for the Hollywood elite, or shall we say, those in Hollywood who are still trapped in a fantasy about what Barack Obama is and is not) and as I gathered Internet images for the coming blitz I came across the following image of Anna Wintour and a guy named Andre Talley:
‘These two alleged fashion aficionados, who in fact command quite the excess of respect in their industry, are wearing sunglasses at a fashion show. You know, glasses that darken the light considerably? Inside. Where fashion is being exhibited for review and commentary.
I am not the first person to make this observation and indictment but I’ll make it anyway: by wearing sunglasses at the equivalent of the NBA finals in their industry, and inhibiting their vision of the art being paraded in front of them, they insult themselves, their reputations, and indeed their entire industry.
Can you imagine an art critic at a museum looking at a newly discovered Renoir while wearing sunglasses? Such a person would be a laughingstock and henceforth be devoid of any credibility whatsoever (“….Monet’s blues and greens were uncharacteristically muddy in this recently found work and it cannot compare to the Water Lillies…”). Take the glasses off, MORON, we would all shout.
But there they are.
And she loves Obama!
Perfect.
So….I find this the epitome of what we have come to understand as the liberal hierarchy who seem to believe no matter what they do it is chic’. There is something to be said about people who willingly make themselves out to look like morons while thinking they are the coolest of cool. I also enjoy their elbow rubbing with Obama because he is of their ilk or at least believes he is. If this is the type he attracts then be glad because like him they are out of touch.
