Poor Bill Clinton, sweating over his legacy, day by agonizing day. Even his allies say the obvious: he could’a should’a would’s been a great president. But he defeated himself more than any opponent ever could, and the extent of his failure becomes more apparent as time passes and the seeds of the global financial crisis are unearthed.
And so it must be painful for him to see headlines like this:
A two-part television documentary about President Bill Clinton and his infamously insatiable libido will dive deep about the 42nd president’s lady troubles, examining the betrayal his closest advisers felt as the Monica Lewinsky scandal grabbed the country’s attention in the late 1990s. <source>
Marla Crider, a Clinton associate in Arkansas who also had an affair with the politician, recalled that women were “literally mesmerised” by him. “It was like flies to honey…
Um, who were the flies again? Who was the honey?
But now let’s take a quick peek inside the Liberal mind…not too long, though — don’t want to get ourselves hurt:
While there are voices of hurt and betrayal, CNN correspondent Jeffrey Toobin, a contributor to the documentary, explains that the scandal did not irreparably harm Clinton’s legacy. “The legacy of this scandal favors Clinton more than his adversaries,” Toobin says, according to The Telegraph. “More Americans think that it was a trivial waste of time than think that he got away with something unforgivable.”
Well there it is: the Liberal mind in all its glory: selective amnesia and denial of cold reality. Toobin actually believes that the Lewinsky scandal “favors Clinton more than his adversaries”.
The check is in the mail, Jeffrey?
Toobin joins his Liberal brethren in this charade, as I have highlighted before:
- Beinhart hates women (Peter Beinart)
- Remedial Education on Clinton Never Ends (Maureen Dowd)
- On Honey Traps and Liberal Delusions (ABC News)
In perhaps my most well-argued piece of any that I have ever done, the Clinton sex scandals were about far more than just blowjobs gone wrong. I will not repeat the arguments here but encourage you to read my “I did not…take seriously…that Office…of the Presidency”. I dare any Liberal to read it and tell me that “it was only about sex”.
The truth of the Clinton years is inescapable: they were a colossal waste and a dangerous bacchanal that squandered the Reagan peace dividend and dismantled the financial regulatory infrastructure that had safeguarded capitalism since the 1930s. They also showed America to be a paper tiger to enemies such as Osama Bin Laden, who attacked us around the world with impunity.
This legacy cannot be resuscitated and no Liberal fantasy will make even a dent in it.
